Busy day

It has been a rather busy day today and I am somewhat tired. I'll be off for a shower shortly and then to bed at what for me is a comparatively early hour (about 12.30).

Diet not withstanding, Furtle acquired a box of chocolates yesterday from Waitrose on the basis that they were marked down to £3 from £8. The use buy date was today, so we polished them off. It would have been rude not to. The problem is, none, or rather very few of the chocs inside the box resembled those illustrated on the bottom of the box (not that Furtle had even realised that there was a menu, mind). I think we are now pretty sure why the chocolates were discounted - other than on grounds of age. They were a random assortment of semi-replica chocs. We particularly liked the strange lemony foam inside one that looked as though it had a coffee bean on top (but which turned out to be dark chocolate). Myself, I was torn between the expanded poly-praline and the ground woodchip surprise.

Next time, I think Furtle should stick to Thornton's when she is after posh calories, or at least a recognisable brand if a cocoa fix is all that's needed...

free calories

but reduced price calories are better than ordinary ones and sell by date calories are practically non-existant so you were calorifically lucky. I have a jar of sticky toffee sauce in my fridge that my husband bought for me - gift, no calories!

Hmm, that's the trouble with boxed assorted choccies: you never know what lurks inside them, even the "quality" ones. With a steaming slab of CDM, you know exactly what you're going to get. Same with Yorkies, Flake, Kitkat and Mars bars...
