Marathon des Sables
In a feat of endurance, stamina and general fitness that puts your correspondent to shame, the chap who works with me, Mario, is running the Marathon des Sables next Spring.
It is a 230km endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco to be completed in six days.
The man is quite mad, of course, and aged 62 to boot. I don't think these facts are necessarily linked. Mario's website is here, and the reason he's doing it can be found here. You should read the site; but not at a meal time. I had no idea this condition existed.
