Tiny Tim says hello

Well it's about 7.15am on Christmas Eve. I've been up about 40 minutes and will be wandering down for some breakfast shortly. Then I will be getting an early tube down to Euston and a comparatively early train to Shropshire.

These things are relative; on a work day it would not be early for most people, but today I think it is. And all the last minute rushing around will take place once the main shops are open. Provided I'm on a train and gone by then, all should be well.

So; time to dress and find food I think. And make sure Furtle's phone is near the bed so I can phone her about 9 to make sure she doesn't forget to wake up and go to Euston.

More later, perhaps, from my niece's computer in Shropshire. If not, Merry Christmas and God Bless us, one and all.

Latish Christmas Eve

The journey home was, for once, quite unexceptional. I was back in Wem by about one pm: for once all the connections worked (I didn't even have time to buy a cup of tea at Wolverhampton).

We have packed an over-excited ten year old to bed. Much to my surprise she still seems to believe in Father Christmas. I know she's a little immature for her age, but... Still, it's harmless enough and I'm damned if I'll be the one to tread on her childhood. That said, if she still believes this time next year she will have to be disabused. Can you imagine what all the other little monsters would do to her if she turned up in secondary school still professing a belief in Santa?

That said, tonight I get to scoff a mince pie and I've already forged teeth marks in a carrot with a pie cutter. The old Santa's been, eaten and fed Rudolph scam runs for another year.

I have had a couple of texts from Furtle who is currently at Luxor. (That's in Egypt, not a hotel in Las Vegas) and grumbling that she must be up again at four in the morning. Six o'clock local time. I can see that might be a pain, but since she has reportedly turned in already, well...

Oh well. That's that for now.

Merry Christmas, ladies and gentlemen.
