Flash Back

Suddenly this morning it was 1961 or thereabouts. This didn’t become evident until I had left The Carpathia and got on the Tube.

I know that the weather is warm and that shorts and loose shirts are the order of the day, but quite when these shirts became Hawaiian again, I don’t know. And the straw hats. Suddenly the world is filling up with straw Trilbies and Homburgs; particularly the latter:

They're trying to pass this off as a Cuban Straw Fedora, but it's clearly closer to a Homburg!

Where, oh where is the Panama Hat? Are we to suffer a Cliff Richard revival? What of the Shadows and endless recitals of Apache?

Don S Davis

Sad to report that character actor Don S Davis died on 29 June aged 65.

Probably best known as General George Hammond in Stargate SG-1, he also played Scully's father in the X-Files.

Goodbye Ahab.
