Fire Sale

I must stop taking days off after elections. Not because I don't like taking days off, you understand, but there is growing evidence that it has some impact upon the political stability of the country in general and the jobs of our ministers in particular!

It seems that Margaret Beckett has got the sack in the reshuffle, if the BBC is to be believed. At the moment we are swapping out Secretaries of State ever 18 months and Ministers of State every 6. The kiddies in the junior positions seem to be on slightly more solid ground, The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State positions have fared rather better, but in the current climate, who knows?

So. Sir Alan Sugar as Enterprise Czar, eh? Lord Amstrad perchance?

Thought for the day

"If you're in politics and you can't tell when you walk into a room who's for you and who's against you, then you're in the wrong line of work" - President Lyndon B Johnson

Priceless

Fantastic!

It seems that in St Ives one of Labour's candidates for the County Council has been beaten by Lord Toby Jug of the Monster Raving Loony Party.

Despite losing himself, to the Conservative candidate, "It is a Loony landslide. Democratic loonyism has arrived in St Ives," said Lord Toby. "People in St Ives have voted for the sanest candidate."

Sadly, that's probably true!

Edited to add: This is the St Ives in Cambridgeshire, NOT Cornwall. Had me confused for a moment.
