Age of Understatement

Having caught a glimpse of the video, I find myself wondering if there will be a stand up, knock down fight between The Last Shadow Puppets (in no way the Arctic Monkeys) and the other Beatle wannabes, Oasis.

Of course, given that there are really only two of each band (as far as I am aware) maybe they should team up for a video, just to get the numbers right. I must remember to load the video up on YouTube when I get home, see what they sound like.

I thought Blur were the new Beetles and Oasis the new Rolling Stones, or am I hopelessly out of date?

TLSP isn't the Arctic Monkeys it's Alex, the main chap from the AMs and another chap from a Liverpool band called The Rascals and I think their current single is spiffing. I can't see any Beatlesness in the track. It's very Joe Meeks and not a little Scott Walker, all big strings, horse-galloping noises and spaghetti-western twanging none of which makes me think Fab 4.

Have you noticed that attempts at covering Beatles songs in the seventies were mostly crap, but people seem to be able to do it a lot better nowadays? I myself even once recorded a reasonable version of Birthday. Now sadly lost.

I don't think the vastly overrated Oasis should be comparing themselves to the Fabs, though.
