A manifesto of sorts...

[livejournal.com profile] caffeine_fairy has noted that mortgages are deadly, deadly dull. She's right, of course.

They are also horribly expensive.

I propose therefore, that we readopt a fine old tradition: one that has underlain the British constitution since William the Conqueror invaded these shores in 1066.

Right of Conquest

Let's face it, the monarchy took over the entire country at that point, by right of conquest, and then doled the land back out to the people who thought they'd owned it, and to his mates who popped over on the Normandy Ferry, that Autumn, nearly 950 years ago. Moreover, when anyone complained - Hereward the Wake etc, William harried them with fire, and of course, sword* laying the land waste unto the third generation.**

It seems to me that this would be a fine way of sorting out who owned what. It would be cheaper, swinge estate agents out of exorbitant fees, and provide entertainment for the masses.

The Communists would have us believe that All Property is Theft, so let's institutionalise it!

*1066 And All That. Don't you ever read anything?
**Clearly much longer if bits of Camberwell are examples.

It would save all that boxpacking...

Shouldn't take much to despatch Mrs Z - or is she tougher than she looks?

She's a tough Old Bird, and I reckon with the back up of the Polish Brigade she could probably hold her own.

The mice might fight back, too
