Good Lord

Reading through various friends' entries, I happened upon this rather basic face recognition site, which had been posted up in [livejournal.com profile] keresaspa's journal.

It took me several attempts to find a photo that the software recognised as having a face in it (stop laughing in the cheap seats). Once I had found a picture the site was happy with (!), it decided that I have a 67% similarity with Henry Fonda. I was quite pleased with that, though I don't see a similarity myself.

I should have left it there, but further fiddling suggested that I have a 62% facial similarity with JK Rowling.

Somebody should sue someone...

I come out as Sohphie Moreau (shrug) or Andrew Carnegie, or Scarlett Johansson. Quite pleased with the last one, Not thrilled with Andrew Carnegie, who has a bushy beard in the picture.

I got Rowling as a possible with another photo I tried too. A little disconcerting, I'm sure you'll agree.

Think yourself lucky, I got Manuel (f*****g) Noriega! Mind you, Bruce Willis was slightly further down the list and I did use an exceptionally scary photograph (since the rubbish software couldn't work out my non-rubbish ones)

Good Grief! It says I'm a 60% match with Tom Cruise!

I wanted to be Richard O'Brien! (pout pout)

What we learn is: 2400 faces do not provide a very helpful database.

Woo hoo!

...I tried this out.

As a result:

63% Gustav Heinemann,
or
55% Mark Chapman
or worse
54% L Ron Hubbard

No wonder people shy away from me

*additional*

Using another, more recent pic:

Thomas "Darwin's Bulldog" Huxley - 60%
Patricia Arquette (don't ask me how) - 58%
M Night Shayalaman - 57%
Jack Kerouac - 52%

Also Rumsfeld, Dvorak, Tom Selleck and Tesla.

Funny old world innit?
