Picture Frame

Finally. I have found a frame to put my photo of Dad in. I took the picture almost exactly a year ago. It was the last one anyone took of him and despite it being outside the hospital where he went after the first of the mini strokes, he looks happy and surprisingly well.

It still makes me well up when I look at it, but I am really, really glad I have it. I miss the old bloke.

It's a lovely photo.

I still have one of my late dad over the desk. Over 10 years on he's still nearby.

It'll get easier to look at over time...

You've got his eyes.

That's a nice photo. I must take more of my parents...

There's an advert for anchor butter that uses Bing Crosby singing Don't Fence Me In as the music. My dad sang that to my mum as they walked down the aisle at their wedding and it was their *song* so the first time I heard it unexpectedly on TV it hit me in the throat and made my eyes water. Dad died in 2003 and mum died last year. I have my favourite pictures of them where I can say hi to them every day and it does get easier with time.

It's a good photo.

I can sympathise with you, I was going through some snaps of mine for a friend, and found a set of my graduation with Dad there - I think they might have been the last set taken with all of us together (certainly that I have). It's a bitter-sweet moment looking at them.
