Who news

Billie Piper to return to Doctor Who. Good news or bad news? You decide.

While it'll be lovely to see her again I'm not so sure it'll be good for the story. Mind you what really irritated me was the news that Catherine Tate will be back.

Actually, no, what really irritated me was learning that 'Torchwood' was coming back for another series.

Any news on another series of the 'Sarah Jane Adventures' by the way?

Torchwood has proven incredibly popular internationally (and domestically!).

I understand that although the last ep of season 1 went out on 1 Jan this year, the new series will be later in 2008 as they felt season 1 was rushed and want to put more time into season 2.

Whether or not that improves it, who can say?

That's the arrange ment for Torchwood as I understood. I believe that Torchwood is filming at the moment and will be screened later. Hope they've changed artistic direction because series one was so unutterably poor !

Rumouir is that Billie P was filming with Catherine Tate last night - and I believe she was in familiar costume - I suspect leaked set reports may have promted this press release. I suspect therefore that Rose features in the Sontaran story but may also therfore have a part in a later ep or 2009 special.

The massed ranks of companions, ex companions and occaisional characters combined with the departure of RTD makes me wonder is something,...you know,...big is planned...

Well that's one word for it.

Whether or not that improves it, who can say?
It can hardly hurt

RTD has said things like: “So some things worked, some things didn’t, we’ll work on it.” and "It needs work". Given how careful Davies is normally about talking about the show, this is about as close as he'll come to saying that it was awful.

Given Torchwood has been moved to a 'Do or Die' slot for 2008, it should be interesting.

I do know people who were very enthusiastic about it - even following (IMHO) really duff episodes. There were some nice aspects to it, but one of those wasn't consistency. Perhaps if they stopped trying so desperately to be an Adult show...

Mind you, in comparison with C4's Ultraviolet*, it's puerile, watery and a waste of airtime.

Nice icon btw.
