If you like a good read, particularly short punchy stories, they don't come any shorter or punchier than The Fast Fiction Challenge by Lee "Budgie" Barnett - also known as budgie_uk.

And before you ask, no, I'm not on commission; I just like it when friends publish something somewhere and think it might be good if they got a little encouragement. Buy them. Now. ;-D



You can get the books from Lulu.com or in the US at least, Amazon.com (I think volume 2 is available on Amazon.co.uk).

Anyway, the man took the effort to write them, so you should at least have a look.

Each story is a response to a challenge: give him a title of no more than 4 words, plus one word that must be included inthe text. He then writes a story of exactly 200 words.

There's 180 in volume 1 and 200 in volume 2.
