Touchwood
Ah, Russell T Davies, it's been two years and that is enough time for me to have forgotten just how over rated you are. Bless you for reminding me in spades at the first opportunity.
I was really looking forward to Torchwood Miracle Day; I was excited as much by the change in direction as I was by the news that such scriptwriters as Jane Espenson were involved. Taking it Stateside was on okay idea, as long as the essential Britishness remained and the basic idea is a reasonable premise for a series. And Bill Pullman as a baddie. Nice casting.
Sadly, what we got was slow direction, poor pacing and RTD's agenda once again that once the US is involved, they are automatically able to over ride all UK customs, laws and procedures. Not to mention a homage to Robin Hood Prince of Thieves with the trip from Heathrow, down the M4, over the Severn Bridge and right down to the coast in the space of a single phone conversation. You couldn't get there that fast in a Typhoon on full after burn.
I think I'll watch next week, but if it doesn't pick up soon, probably not the week after.
The question I throw out for discussion therefore is: Torchwood Miracle Day episode one. Steaming pile of poo, or just house and garden variety shite?
And remember, folks, I am incredibly easy to please in matters televisual.

I missed the last 10 minutes, so may have missed some bits of relevance - perhaps explaining what Pullman was doing in it.
It had some enjoyably daft moments, but overall was weak - more akin to something supernatural rather than sci-fi, not convinced by someone walking around after having fatal injuries - whilst they may not die, they're not going to be moving far either.
Plot what plot?
But now I know, if I want to do anything in the US, I flash a badge, shout "CIA" and everyone acquiesces - lets not worry about juristictional issues.
Here's to a cheap and easy lastminute solution that neither satisfies nor explains.
Incidentally, if you are minded to listen rather than view, R4 this weeks is offering - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b012fbw8/Afternoon_Play_Torchwood_The_Lost_Files_The_Devil_and_Miss_Carew/

Possible just to find out what and why, etc.
I like a bit of riproaring tosh.
One of my high points was: "We're Torchwood!" *fires bazooka at helicopter*

that would be really funny.
basically the problem is that it's just not preposterous enough.
also trying to draw a parallel between Jack and this incident is stupid because Jack's "immortality" results in his wounds healing, his body restructuring. these people are just the walking dead.
o wait ...
