A twist in the tale

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a classic tale in possession of a solid fan base, must be in want of a sequel.

Having already received zombie treatment, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is now set to get a sequel: Death Comes to Pemberley.

It is 1803. Mr and Mrs Fitzwilliam Darcy are about to retire for the night when an unexpected guest turns up: Mrs Darcy’s youngest sister, one Lydia Wickham (née Bennett) tumbles out of her carriage, screaming that her husband has been murdered. And so the Darcys become involved in a whodunnit.

In this case, it is PD James whodunnit.

Yes, that PD James.

So. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle to reprise their roles for TV in due course?

Death Comes to Pemberley by PD James: Published by Faber and Faber 3 November.

I can't be arsed with the zombie nonsense cashing in on a famous text, but I might be interested in PD James.

It was a bit of a giggle, but as usual, it got out of hand.

It was fine when the joke was just Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but now just about everything is getting the horror treatment. And most of them haven't done it as cleverly as did the first chap.

Anyway, a novel by PD James is a different matter entirely and will probably be worth reading!

If I had any time to read anything at the moment, I would consider reading that. As it is, I'll probably buy it on my Kindle and then forget about it for a while :)
