Survey

Imagine my surprise to find that I am being surveyed.

Somebody trading under the perilous soubriquet of [livejournal.com profile] her_eminence, has befrended me and may even now be surveying me.

Greetings, Eminence, though I know ye not, I strongly suspect from what little information is available that you are not American. Enjoy your stay.

It seems that the only thing we have in common -stated at least - is His Eminence the Cardinal Armand Jean du Plessis, Duc de Richelieu. Still, if one has to have a single interest in common, it may as well be His Emininence. This is, after all, the man who said:

If you give me six lines written
by the most honest man, I will find
something in them to hang him.

I do not believe that I have ever been surveyed before. Mind you with a waistline like mine the odd theodolyte could easily get missed, so it's not impossible.

Changing the mood entirely, I have decided to take this post as the opportunity to début my new 'Om' icon. You, my only reader will have already noticed this since I am aware that you pay attention to these things. Nonetheless I take passing pleasure in stating the bleeding obvious.

Hello there! Such a pleasant greeting, thank you.

My 'survey' doesn't extend past what a person leaves in my journal and what they list in their userinfo, so don't feel like I'm hanging on your every word. However, I do enjoy reading your journal.

In reality we have more interests in common; the ones I have listed are fairly random, and mostly very silly.

If you suspect that I'm not American, then what nationality do you suspect I am? If you will indulge me.

Harder to say what Nationality you don't appear to be, than what you do.

You will have to wait until you've written more before I essay a guess. But use of the word wank in your interests list suggests not US or Canadian. But since I don't know enough about Aussie or Kiwi slang....

Ah, I see.

Well, I will tell you if you'd like (unless you'd prefer to guess), but suffice it to say, "wank" has become commonplace in the US, amongst certain people, thanks largely to dear fandom_wank (http://versaphile.com/wank).

Well, there we are. Didn't know that.

Still, that's a very non-North American date signature. On the other hand, does it really matter?

No. Not really.

It's possible that f_w has non-north american origins. I only know that many Americans follow it.

By the way: Is Shamless Imitation a pun or a mis-type?

Ha! An unintentional pun. I'm surprised I hadn't noticed that... thanks for bringing it to my attention.
