Stary, stary night...

Foolish mortal, me.

I have spent a happy evening slurping coffee without a thought for the consequences.

I sit at my keyboard at 12.42am, red-eyed and manic. Tonight I shall either be staring at the ceiling or lying on it. I'm not sure which, yet.

It is not helped by the fact that I was drinking diet coke earlier. I prefer the vanilla diet coke as a rule, but in the absence of that I went for the stuff with lemon in it. I'm not saying it was sour, but my face caved in. Just a little more bitter and it would have generated a gravity well of its own and my head would have turned inside out.

I don't think I can drink enough Horlicks to counteract it...

I strongly suspect I have broken my caffeine sensors, after many years of drinking copious quantities of Diet Coke. I drink it (often the vanilla stuff) late at night and suffer no sleep issues from it. Maybe I'm just lucky ;)

I used to be like that; I'd quite often go to bed with a cup of filter coffee as a night time drink, then fall asleep almost immediately after finishing it. However, over the last 4 months I've been making an effort to cut down on caffine after 7pm and even in that short amount of time, I've noticed a real difference. If I now drink any strongly caffinated substance after about 9pm, it will affect my sleep.
