(no subject)
I am delaying my birthday bash (if you can call it a bash)a week or so, so that I can email out a few people to see if they want to come along, seeing that only the ever-lovely
caffeine_fairy and
bibliogirl responded to the post.
It will probably be at the Café Sol since I have to report with great sadness, the passing of the Oasis which has now transformed into an establishment under the dubious name of Rinky-Dink (we think...)which has far too many little cuboid pouffé chairs (there must be a proper name for them, but it eludes me)arranged around back-breakingly low tables. The decorative motif is that shade of mauve that people call pink and makes the rest of us wonder if we've gone colour blind.
There appears to be a cocktail bar at the rear, but no sign of limitless crispy duck which was the entire raison d'etre of the Oasis.
The bottom has fallen out of the Clapham crispy duck market since DT moved north of the river, I fear.

Re:
It seems that we have a small but intrepid band for Monday evening, so I reckon that we should start meeting up around 7.30 on the Landor, ready to make an assault on the Cafe Sol at about 8.15 (not much later as some people have a distance to travel and we don't want to rush).
For those who aren't sure where to go to get to the Cafe Sol - Tube to Clapham North, exit tube, take sharp LEFT down into the High Street and walk down under the bridge. Go to the crossing opposite the Railway Pub and cross. Carry on down the High Street and Cafe Sol is 3 or 4 minutes mooch down there on the right hand side.
If you are likely to get to Clapham in time to go to the Landor, again, Clapham North, but turn right and cross Bedford Road. Walk up Landor Road (between Bedford Arms and the corner grocers). The Landor is about 5 minutes walk up there, on the right.
