Er...

Apologies to those who have a more stringent definition to the concept of spoiler than I do. I have just been told off in the nicest possible way by [livejournal.com profile] jfs because of that. So, apologies all round - don't go beyond the cut if you don't want to know, but no plot points are given away, just a single line of script.

"Hello, new teeth. Now where were we?"

The first words of the tenth Doctor - you read it here first. Unless you read it elsewhere, The Times, for instance. Don't worry; there are no major spoilers for the final episode of season 1 to ruin your enjoyment. The article does show what a risk the Beeb undertook when they relaunched the series; all their focus and marketing groups forecast an expensive ratings flop.

Billie Piper is confirmed for the entirety of season 2, and the Beeb have put aside £30 million for season 3 and two Christmas specials.

The big baddies for season 2 will be the revamped cybermen.

This is going to sound ungracious, but could you post stuff behind a spoiler warning please?

I'm not a big one to worry about spoilers, particularly, but you've just posted something I didn't know, and would have enjoyed not knowing.

Hm. Sorry. As a one-liner to an event we knew was going to happen, I didn't regard it as a spoiler...

That's why I noted there were none in the Times article.

JFS may have been referring to the Cybermen, rather than the line.

[identity profile] caddyman.livejournal.com 2005-06-16 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Which, of course, has been announced by the Beeb..

to an event we knew was going to happen

You mean the death of the Doctor? Not the spoiler I meant.

"The Cybermen are the major villain of series 2."

I didn't know that. I wish I didn't now.

Imagine watching the episode with the only Dalek in the village, with all the pathos of it being on its own, and someone telling you that the entirety of the Dalek fleet were going to show up in the Bad Wolf episode.

Don't you think that would have spoiled the theme of loneliness that the writer was so obviously going for?

Well, apols anyway. I wasn't trying to tread on anyone's enjoyment. I'll be a bit more circumspect in future.

Huzzah for Billie Piper!

I seem to have been under a bit of a rock for this series, and have only caught the last half (I'm currently downloading last saturday's episode). So do we know who the new doctor is then?

David Tennant, of Casanova fame.

There's somethong about "Christmas specials" that feels wrong to me, hoepfully what they mean are feature length standalone stories that happen to be broadcast over the christmas holiday period. And hopefully not something like red daleks with white fur trim exterminating presents.

I hadn't thought about that.

Now I'm worried.
