I am hot, I am bothered and I keep coughing and sneezing.

This is rarely a good sign; I was OK when I woke up, but this last hour or so I have been feeling progressively more manky. This morning we had a divisional away morning, an odd affair that took us to a big room in Admiralty Arch where we were under-supplied with coffee and croissants. This is no way to provide a substitute for a missed breakfast.

My only input was to provide a two minute overview of Housing Subsidy; something I have been unable to explain to some MPs over the past 7 years in ever-increasing detail. Cursory suggests more detail than you can get into two minutes. The rest of the morning was a struggle to stay awake and look interested.

I am wondering if my currently increasing cold symptoms are down to the fact that we walked back from Admiralty Arch across St James' Park. I hope not; we passed some very vindictive-looking ducks. I don't think any of them sneezed on me, after all, if a duck felt like I do, it wouldn't be wandering around coughing at people, it would be curled up warm somewhere.

Anyway, how dim do you have to be to let a duck sneeze on you?

I've suddenly had this image flash into my mind of a herd of ducks roaming majestically across the plains, and tracking people down, creeping up behind them and then leaping onto their hapless victim en masse to pin them down and sneeze on them.

"You think they're cute, but I think they're sinister...
Ducks...
Ducks...
Quack Quack...
Quack Quack..."

You can't blame me! unless...you've seen anyone I've seen recently. I have apparently been scattering this virulent plague about me with some abandon, not wanting it myself, you understand.

How furtively do ducks sneeze anyway?

Just waht I need; advice from a quack.

Presumably mal-lards.

That is a very disconcerting icon.

Well done!

Thank you,

it seemed appropriate*, I just wish I had got the double with a suitably awful set of puns - but those much better beat me to it.

*I would like to claim originality, but one friend sent me the original piece, and another converted it into an LJ icon.

That may be the best icon I've seen in many a month.

You'd go quackers if you caught a Malardy from a duck, you'd probably get fired by one of those whitehall mandarins , heheheheheh *breaths* ahh, I amuse myself.
