Hinglish, innit?

The rise of Hinglish continues apace according to this article on the Beeb news website . It's quite fun and I am particularly amused by the response from one of the readers who just doesn't get it.

I for one am feeling a bit glassy, but since I have to stay in the office for another hour or so, I'm not going to knot my chuddies over it.

I'm amused that they're not aware that 'chuddies' was slang for underwear when I were a lad.

I hadn't heard of it before "Goodness Gracious Me" aired, but some of the others, like "badmash" must date back to the days of the Raj.

My fave of the new ones has to be to banaglore a project!

Apart from the old established ones they're all new on me, although the Indian subcontinental population of Belfast is fairly small and quite recent so I suppose their influence is less felt over here.

The link has gone. Please redirect! ...Unless the Beeb has removed the article, of course. I am intrigued.

They seem to have moved it. But never mind, I found it and changed the link for your edification.
