Aerial Manouevres in the Dark

It appears that the quest for decent TV reception in the living room is to be longer and more fraught than I had anticipated.

The connectors I originally obtained are poor, cheap things and that, ladies and gentlemen, is the crux of the matter. Tomorrow I make my final attempt to get the damned thing working; I shall fork out a few more pence on better quality coaxial connectors and give it one last shot. I have perfect reception on the TV in the bedroom, including the Freeview digital channels. The aerial works. All I need is to transfer the signal downstairs and all will be well. I have enough coaxial cable; the connectors are the only things that can be causing the grief.

Onwards and upwards, then, in the pursuit of telly excellence.

Better I'd also suggest cutting the reel of coax down to the minimum length, you might pull back 5 db or more - the coax has a pretty poor shield. (google for techy stuff e.g. here, here and here)

Hope your rewiring improves things!

"telly excellence"

You know this is a contradiction in terms almost of the "military intelligence" magnitude. :-0

Good luck with thine quest however, Young One. And hug the Furtle.
