Sandwiches for lunch. Or not.

My metabolism seems to have ground to a halt.

It's not the fastest metabolism on the planet at the best of times. I think some mad scientist spliced in some sloth genes way back (that would account for my toe nails and habit of wanting to sleep all the time, too). But right now, slow has given way to "All stop!". I had a sandwich at about 10.30 this morning - one of those nice New York style club sandwiches that Sainsbury's sell.

That was nearly two hours ago and it's still there, growling at me. I've tried to drown it with a couple of mugs of coffee, but no. It has proved its resilience. It is there for the long haul and I just know that it will go and leave me to my own devices well after lunch time and well past the availability of lunchtime sustenance. This means that I now have top make a decision: buy some sandwiches at lunchtime in the full anticipation of not eating them before 4 pm, or not bother and hope to hold out until around 8.30 this evening? Can I drink enough coffee to keep the hunger pangs at bay?

Argh, decisions, decisions.

And no, were it an interesting day at work, I shouldn't have written this pointless little piece of blather.

Calling all Geeks: the search is not over

For a moment there I thought I had a winner for the movie-TV-movie sequence of a couple of entries back.

Just for the briefest, shiniest of geek moments it looked as though we had one incontrovertible example of the hardest to find entertainment genre in the world.

[livejournal.com profile] mikedrfc texted me with the suggestion of Robocop. His reasoning was thus: Movie followed by two increasingly miserable sequels, spawns dismal TV series which in turn spawns the ever more dismal movie, Robocop: Dark Justice. This looked very promising.

Sadly, a little research showed that the three movies spawned both the TV series and a very poor TV cartoon series. Once the TV series (which built upon the third movie) was cancelled, a Canadian production company acquired the rights to the Robocop franchise and proceeded to make their own, darker, TV show supposedly taking the concept back to its roots. It seems that Dark Justice is an episode from this short-lived second TV series which was eventually edited together as a single movie, Robocop: Prime Directives.

So, geekdom must continue its search. There is, as yet, no out and out winner.

Which is a pity, because this doesn't warrant the amount of effort being expended upon it by too many sad people.

Quite

I don't want a toaster.
Furnulum pani nolo.
"I don't want a toaster."
Generally, things (like this quiz) tend to tick you
off. You have contemplated doing grievous
bodily harm to door-to-door salesmen.
