There is no movement of air what so ever tonight. Even outside you may as well be in a greenhouse; it's humid, warm and stifling and not the merest hint of a breeze.

Indoors, it's fun, fun, fun. Even with all the windows open and laying on top of the bed. The simple act of breathing gives you a sweat.

I swear there's lions out there in the undergrowth, and the rummaging of unknown creatures in the jungle. The wangwana are sullen, and even the askari are twitchy.

It's going to be a long night, Caruthers.

A long night.

Well, I dozed off at some point after it got light. So what, maybe four hours sleep?

It is going to be one of those days, I can tell. It's cooler now, and over cast. The air smells damp, but it doesn't seem to have rained. There is a sort of a mist around - perhaps haze is a better word. It is going to be hellish humid, isn't it, regardless of temperature?

Wonderful.

And all I want to do is sleep.

Wonderful.

Timing

In one of those moments of cinematic timing, Office Services have just announced over the tannoy, that due to a security alert, the Metropolitan Police have closed Victoria Street from Westminster to the Albert pub. That's a half mile section of the street from Parliament Square down toward the station.

Just as that announcement had been made, the sirens went off as a fair number of police cars high-tailed it down towards Westminster.

I wonder what's going on. An over reaction to something, no doubt. I'll deny typing that if it all goes tits up, mind.

Later

As suspected, all an over reaction. Move along. Nothing to see. >Yawn< Can I go home, yet?
