Unusual Suspects

The small colony of penguins resident at the Carpathia has grown by one.

Humboldt (second from left) pretends all is well; Opus looks wary. The Emperor tries to rise above it all.

The new boy, name unknown as yet, has eaten all the fish, one trawler and brings to mind the word squamous...

Cough

Harrumph.

Despite not having been further than The Griffin on Christmas Day, and being on my own since Christmas Eve until Furtle got home on Sunday evening, I have developed an irritating chesty cough, which has disrupted my sleep for a couple of nights. This is most unfair; I am getting all the wheezings and squeaks that I used to get when I was a smoker and which I had happily dispensed with. It is most annoying.

Now I am faced with the prospect of going back to work tomorrow, the wisdom of not taking the entire week off is staring me in the face, tutting at me. I have to say that I don't fancy getting up and trolling in - especially since [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle bagged the entire week off herself. Still, it's only for two days and then I have a couple of days off next week to make up for it.

Smiling Shark!

This photo just screams for a caption. Any ideas?

iPhone apps

Does anyone out there in LJ Land know if it is possible to get a screen grab from an iPhone app? I want to co-opt a graphic for something else.

I suspect it can't be done, but you never know...

The Tenth Doctor

Despite some ropy scripts courtesy Russell T Davies, there have been some excellent moments for the Tenth Doctor over the past few years - primarily thanks to Steven Moffat. It's a pity we couldn't have had one full season with Tennant under the supervision of Moffat and the new team.

But hey ho.

Anyway, the fanboy in me wouldn't let the impending regeneration go by without me drawing and posting up a portrait of the out-going Doctor, and since today is my last day at home before going back to work (albeit for 2 days):

The picture was sketched in pencil, scanned and then worked on in Paint Shop Pro. I could have carried on fiddling, but I wanted to keep some atmosphere to the picture and I have a tendency to over do it if I don't tell myself to stop and stand back...

Hope you like it.
