Feeble

I reckon I’m getting old (stop laughing at the back). Last night after work [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle and I wandered into the City to meet her sister for a drink. We washed up in a place called the Ten Bells up by Spitalfields. It’s a traditional, one-room Victorian pub with original tiling all over the walls. Not a bad little spot, though loud.

We stopped for a couple of hours, swigging three pints. We got home about 10.20 and ate a take out Chinese as it was so late. This morning, I felt a little squiffy; I’d like to blame it on the heat, but I suspect that while it contributed, it was not the main factor.

I was relieved to see that there was no obvious sign that the marble-size hail stones that had hit west London yesterday had made it to the east. The conservatory is intact and all is well. I had feared somewhat for the glass roof. For the second night running, we had to use the air-conditioning for an hour or so to get the temperature down to an acceptable level. The thunder storms might have cleared the air outside, but inside the house it was as warm as ever.
