Sardines

What is it about sardines?

Last night, I spent the evening chez [livejournal.com profile] romney. We watched the latest Stargate SG-1 episode downloaded from the web, then a couple of episodes from my season 4 collection DVDs arrived that morning. During this visual treat, we scoffed grilled sardines and a rather toothsome salad with olive bread.

Most enjoyable it all was, too.

But sardines. Persistent buggers, aren't they?

This morning, a full 12 hours later, no matter how many times I brushed my teeth and gargled domestos, I could still taste them.

And even unto lunchtime, some 16-18 hours after consumption, there they were at my beck and call should I desire to recall the taste. Strong mints were called for and then only just equal to the task.

There's something odd about sardines.

In other news, I have purchased unheard and on account of the name, Death in Vegas' album, The Contino Sessions indeed I am listening to it at this moment. And what a fabulous purchase it is - there's something of the Talking Heads meets Soft Machine from their Land of Cockayne period to it.

Kings of Leon coming up soon. No idea what to expect from them, but they look hairy enough to be rockers.

Sardines, eh?

Tasty but odd.

Death in Vegas Good...

The Contino Sessions is a fabulous album...

As for sardines, I've fond memories of freshly caught sardines grilled in front on me in Majorca - you're right though, they bring new meaning to repeat.....

later!

Kings of Leon are one of the next big things getting a lot of airplay on Kerrang TV...

They aren't bad - I'm listening to them now, but they aren't doing anything any number of Seattle/Vancouver bands haven't done before. Croaky lead singer apart, they ain't that different from the Tragically Hip and could give Smash Mouth a run for their money.

I think the hype 'best debut album of the last 10 years' - NME is overstating the case a little.

Still, shouldn't complain; if we took UK sales as a guide, Rock would be coughing up blood by now if not actually dead.

I think Rock is doing quite well at the moment actually.

They are working their fishy powers on you even as we speak. Soon, the sardine DNA you are tasting will spontaneously generate webbing between your fingers and toes, and then, as thime progresses, your gill-flaps will open and you will hear the sonorous and stately call of Father Dagon and Mother Hydra out, out, out under the slow roiling grey waves of the estuary...

*ahem*

Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet.
