Two milestones

Not earth shattering as such, but I felt they should be noted down for posterity:

1 - Today at work, a mere ten days after I picked up my specs from the optician, I perfected the art of perching them on the end of my nose so I can read and peer meaningfully over them at people more than four feet away. It's events like this that remind me how as kids we took the piss out of people who do that. The Karma Pixies are satisfied.

2 - I have just had one of those jaw-cracker yawns which brings tears to your eyes. For the first time my specs steamed up momentarily. I am now a true wearer of glasses.

See, I said it wasn't earth shattering news.

Bed time, ladies and gentlemen, bed time.

Ah you have now perfected the teacher look! I actually requested that my glasses should not be super tight fit in order that they slip to end of my nose while I'm in class allowing me to see the register yet also peer up with a slight frown and raised eyebrow when required. Works like a charm!

Still to come you have the

* Opening the oven door with your glasses on (and yes I know you wear them for reading but it will still happen) and the sudden blast of heat causing the glasses to steam up

* Running around frantically trying to find them thinking of how much they cost and 10 minutes later discovering you in fact had pushed them up on top of your head

* Sitting on the sofa scrabbling around for them and finding out you are sitting on them ...

* ... then consequently buying a chain from which you can wear your glasses around your neck while not in use (the glasses, not your neck) taking them off with the chain on, putting them in your glasses case and then spending 10 frustrating minutes trying to untangle glasses from chain next time you wear them

experiences.

But what we really want are pictures of you wearing them of course :p

I think that your first option might be a while in coming as anything much over a yard away is in blurry sof focus when I wear them.

I can see the rest happening, though.

As to piccy... well mebbe. ;-)

Ah yes, the good old oven door - I'd forgotten that one. I shall adopt the temporary blindness as the reason why all my cakes sink. If I ever made any, that is, having been banned from baking some time ago.

I realised I had 'the look' when I quelled a roomful of students with it. [livejournal.com profile] pax_draconis claims I have always had that look, with or without glasses. I am not sure that is a good thing....

There's the other fun and games of having a fag and wincing as smoke goes up between the lenses and eye - now that will bring tears to your eyes

Done it.

you know i am serious considering getting glasses designed to sit on the end of my nose given that they always end up there anyway. My nose is the wrong shape of glasses really, and I;ve spent about 30 years pushing them up my nose!

Bryyyyyyyyyyannnnnn.

Amy now has a PC that can play DVDs...you wouldn't have any BSG dics just lying around not being used would you ????

[identity profile] caddyman.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
What was the latest BSG you've seen?

I haven't burnt one onto disk for ages, I've just watched them off the hard driove in .avi format. That's not to say that they aren't available to you, but everything from the mid season cliffhanger will have to be transferred.

Of course, if you have a portable hard drive we can plug into a USB port...
