Help!!!

Yes, I know it's nearly 3am on Monday morning and that I shall be up and off to work in a few hours, but the general laziness of Sundays means that I can't just doze off on a Sunday night like most people. I'm used to it.

Trouble is, I find things to occupy my time in these wakeful hours, and therein lies the problem.

Anyone who knows me even passing well, knows that I am an inveterate hoarder and magpie. I know it; I can't help it. Now what I need you gentle people out there to do, is explain to me patiently (but not necessarily logically) why I really do not need one of these:

Buff pith helmet
Steady the Buffs

or,

White Pith Helmet
They've got a lovely Bass, but no baritone...

By God, but they're grand, what?

Correspondence

Now one of the things we have to get used to working in a civil service departmental headquarters building, is drafting letters for Ministers when an MP writes to them.

It is clear that some MPs take their jobs altogether too seriously, and others not enough.

There is a third category: the time-wasting moron.

I was shown a piece of correspondence today in which the MP admitted agreeing to every word in a letter he had received (and forwarded) from a constituent. The letter was written in BLOCK CAPITALS and debated the use of the word 'void' to describe council or housing association houses that are unoccupied for a long period of time. He thought that this might put people off applying to live in them, and that the term was 'unfriendly.'

My colleague's suggested response was rejected: )
