Monday Movie
Tuesday, August 17th, 2004 12:38 pmLast evening was a rush to get from work to Clapham in time to watch the early showing of The Bourne Supremacy.
A good film, I thought, though I am not sure that I enjoyed it quite as much as The Bourne Identity despite the reviews which suggested it is better. It is certainly much faster paced, and we get more glimpses into Jason Bourne's past. Oddly, though, we do not get many new insights into his character which doesn't have time to develop a great deal simply because of the speed of events in the movie.
My real criticism is that if you don't pay close attention it is sometimes hard to work out precisely where and when you are at some points in the movie, and the sense of atmospheric paranoia that pervaded The Bourne Identity has been replaced by a cold efficiency with occasional moments of unrevealing self-absorption by Matt Damon.
On the whole, however, I enjoyed it and I daresay at some point it will hit my DVD collection, but probably when it has made the bargain bins rather than while it is hot off the presses.
After the movie,
romney and I retired to the pub, and were accosted by a charming gentleman who offered to supply all our shopping needs. That hasn't happened in a long time, and we weren't interested anyway.
Three pints and a large Bailey's later, the "quick pint" ended with chucking out time and a wobbly walk home via the Kentucky Fried Rodent.
Sometimes only lard will do, and hang the consequences.
