Yesterday I was wondering if there might have been some sort of holiday I was unaware of. The train ride to work was very quiet, and even allowing for the fact that I leave work early on a Monday for games night, the train Furtle and I came home on wasn’t overly full either. Even waiting outside at Embankment for Furtle to arrive from her office suggested that there were fewer people around than usual. Half term was last week, I believe, so unless a whole bunch of people were enjoying an additional day off in the absence of their kids back at school, I have no idea what was going on.

Today was back to normality, sadly. The train wasn’t overly crowded, but I ceded my normal spot and carriage to the host of biscuity kids that arrived noisily for some school jaunt or other. I am too unused to gangs of school children, even supervised ones, to willingly share a carriage with the bouncy little blighters. I have had to do it a number of times and it makes the journey into work more annoying than it has to be. At least today they got on the train at the same station as me so I could avoid them.

Tomorrow I shall not be making the journey. I have finally been collared by the quack and in the morning a very hungry Bryan will be attending the surgery to give an armful of blood and a bladderful for testing. Since I am not allowed anything but water for 12 hours in advance of this pantomime, I daresay I shall be suitably grumpy. Tonight particularly will be a trial as from 9.30 I shall not be allowed even my favoured cups of tea.

They will no doubt take the opportunity to inflate something around my arm and tut tut about my blood pressure, too. I tried to tell them last time that I had been on the new prescription before, but that it had no effect, but I suppose they like to figure these things out for themselves. I foresee a suggestion that they increase the dose. I would prefer something strawberry flavoured myself. Oh well.

If it didn't work you should have gone back straight away! High blood pressure is the silent killer! it is really really scarey and not to be treated like a an inconvenience. I am probably ranting to someone who knows this but please, PLEASE do not neglect it or assume that it isn't important
