Global warming experts are politely requested to refrain from meeting members of the public for the next few days unless their journeys are absolutely necessary.

That is all.

That's why it's called climate change rather than global warming. One data point does not make a trend.

Unfortunately, one of the predictions for the UK is "stronger storms, more pronounced extremes, and the loss of the gulf stream, resulting in Moscow-style winters.

The island is the Canaries - the side of the volcano is potentially unstable and has slipped before - there are several megatons of rock on the seabed. It is almost certainly the cause of the evidence they have already found of tidal waves all the way up and down the eastern seaboard, resulting in some cases in rocks being moved several hundred feet higher. If it goes, then most of those coastal cities are gone. The UK will only get the reflections back....

And this is one reason we live up a hill :)

Fractalgeek and I are both stuck in because of the snow, but if our house gets flooded in a tidal wave then it's pretty much a certainty that the whole of London has been wiped out!
