Those of you who know me will realise that I'm not one to grumble [/fibber], but sometimes you just have to have a moan, even if it's only a small one and you are really rather amused by it.

Today in HMV on Oxford Street I bought a CD of Symphony No.6, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Andrew Davis. A snip at only £6 and as ellefurtle observed, it should be a competent performance at the very least.

Sadly, 'competence' is not quite the word I would use for iTunes. I copying the CD to add to my iPod, it suggests a genre for you, to help cataloguing.

Ralph Vaughan Williams' music is perhaps, many things, but "Alternative & Punk" it ain't.

I don't have any problem with iTunes and it certainly doesn't stop me watching movies on DivX as I am wont to do, or, on occasion, listening to music on Sony's proprietory software - the name of which eludes me for now. That was a bit jolly when assigning genres, too on occasion.

It's an alternative to brass band music or country & western (both kinds) So it could be put into Alternative. If the program puts punk in with alternative then you have no choice
