While I cannot pretend to like having auditors constantly crawling around the place (I don’t object, but they are time-consuming and disruptive), I find myself rather amused by the fact that the chap who is coming along a little later is one Doctor Moreau.

Er. That's it.

This is probably old news as I love the anecdote, but my favourite engineering team on the old Mitel telephone system we had in the 90's was a controller called James Kirk and his two engineers Steve Austin and Doc Savage.

And yes, Doc Savage had his name dymoed on to his kit and signed off the sheets that way, I never got up the courage to ask if it was a nickname or his parents just really thought that was a good idea. I can only imagine someone in HR had a sense of humour when they put the team together...

Not only is our local VAT inspector named, erm, Lee Barnett, but I always found it amusing that when I worked for Touche Ross, the audit manuals had Touche Ross Audit Process stamped on them... so just when a company needs reassurance that the auditors aren't there just to find mistakes made by the staff, they turn up with manuals stamped with TRAP all over them...

And of course there's the old (true) one that DC Comics employs one Bob Wayne (in Marketing) and has Devin Grayson writing for them, so they cut cheques to both B Wayne and D Grayson.

(To be fair, Devin changed her name to Grayson; she said in an interview:

"Devin Kalile Grayson is my real and legal name. It's what's on my driver's license, passport, social security, etc. I've never written under a pseudonym. I was born with a different name, but had it legally changed in my early twenties — well before I was working in comics or even thinking about such — in response to sexual abuse issues in my childhood that made me feel like I needed to distance myself from my past a little bit psychologically")
