I am not in the habit of making posts and then deleting them.

Tonight was an exception. Announcing a potential birthday bash and then being reminded (Thank you,[livejournal.com profile] bibliogirl.) that the establishment in question has gone out of business rather puts a damper on the plan. More annoying is the fact that I only live six or seven minutes walk from the place. [livejournal.com profile] bibliogirl on the other hand lives some miles away.

I guess it's the encroaching senility that's done it. Mind you, I've never been that observant. I walk down the High Street in the full knowledge that number of businesses have opened and closed on the street in the 15 years I've lived here, and for the life of me, I can't remember what any of them were. Except for the pet shop. For some reason, despite having no pets, I remember the petshop. It's part of a Bierodrome now. I understand that up untill six years ago there was a street market on Saturdays.

Not in my memory there wasn't.

Anyway, I now have to think up an alternative to the planned Chinese meal next Wednesday, 4th when I clock up my 45th. I reckon the Mexican place the name of which I can never remember (see what I mean about my wossitcalled?) might be a contender.

Anyone in the London area next Wednesday fancy a beer and a Mexican meal in Clapham next Wednesday to help me ease deeper into middle age?

Maybe someone can even remind me what the bloody place is called....

It has actually closed down, then? I was hoping when we went past and saw it closed that they were just refurbishing again (seems unlikely since they did so only, what, three or four years back if that).

I think the Mexican place you are thinking of is the Cafe Sol? And yes, I should probably be up for it; [livejournal.com profile] rotwang may or may not be there, depending on whether he's in sunny Halifax or not.

I personally will have to help you celebrate a belated middle-age in Fdebruary at the Prancing Pony in Fuchsdorf. You know it makes sense as Major Fowler, the Rwandan mercenary, will also be there....

On another note. I'm glad I took the train yesterday. My boss didn't get home till 2am! Roads still icy up herei n the Shires so it was back on the train today.

How are things in the Metropolis?

I think it's called Clapham.

It might just be London though.

Oh no! The Great Duck of Clapham, forever lost to us?

*sobs*

Not that I could have got there anyway. Have fun.
