Who knew how hard it would be to find wedding rings?

I reckon I know what I want: a plain gold band about 4mm, medium weight court cut. Nine carats will be quite enough; I don’t want something too soft. Of course, if something more splendid and equally affordable comes along, I may reconsider…

Trying to find something to match Furtle’s engagement ring is proving more problematic. It needs to match white gold for a start, without detracting or even damaging it.

We have looked a number of websites for ideas, but they are mainly unhelpful unless you want to spend the budget of a medium sized country.

The search continues…

I'm sure the budget of Albania would do.

Have you tried Bay Rings? They have quite a wide selection and it's worth emailing them if they don't have exactly what you want as they made mine for me specially, though it is based on one that they sell. Not all that expensive, either.

Goldfinger Rings! They come and visit you at home with bags of all sorts of rings, they were very competitive, and the experience was relaxed and lovely (unlike trawling unsuccessfully round jewellers and tinterweb).

James & Cat bought their rings from Goldfinger too, so you could get a second opinion.

Nev got a White gold band to match her engagement ring. We used the same jeweller for both. White gold needs recoating(wrong word) every so often anyway and they offered us a deal with that too.

I remember it being a problem finding something that was neither kitsch nor unaffordable, just simple and beautiful is out of fashion. There used to exist rings that could be put over one another meaning one ring with two stones, not necessarily diamonds, one deliberately elevated, to cover the engagement or wedding ring of the bride, but I have only seen this once and it was at least a century old and also not mine but passed on through the family of my ex. Actually, I think the idea of one commenter with Prague may not be too bad. I saw some jewellery there that I have not seen anywhere else.

We just went to H Samuels - all I wanted was a plain gold band.

That's all I want, but Furtle wants something that will match her engagement ring.
