Today is an odd day. Just about every noise I hear is annoying me – I have stuck my iPod on as much to block out the world as to listen to music.

I noticed this morning coming in on the Tube that the plums listening to the tinny drivel on their various devices were particularly annoying. My one consolation regards the lump standing next to me with his duh-duh-dush tinny rhythm (as opposed to the usual tish-tish-tish that I have leant to block out) was that the volume he was using meant that he would probably be deaf by the time he hit fifty.

I really don’t know why I am so sensitive to sound today. A bloke just went by dragging a paper sack full of er… paper, I guess, and it just grated.

Normally I doubt that I’d even notice, but today.

It’s just one of those days. I’m bored, my back is aching (this chair, which I have used for years at work, is suddenly an instrument of the devil).

I really need to suddenly acquire vast amounts of moolah so I can leave this place and never have to worry about any of this crap ever again.

I have days in which my fragrance allergy is more sensitive than others. I'll get a slight whiff of someone's lotion or cologne and my forehead will start to throb. Perhaps you're having something along those lines? Mind you, it sounds psychological rather than a chemical reaction. Your chair is uncomfortable and your job is drudgery, therefore everyone's a git and everything needs to be quiet or destroyed. And rightly so.
