Shamelessly stolen from [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] (but not before leaving him a sarcastic comment).

Fire up your MP3 player, put it on shuffle, post the first 10 songs that it plays. Optional: Include a lyric fragment. These are taken from a playlist of 852 tracks I put together for our pre-Christmas bash...

1 Robbie Williams: Jesus in a Camper Van
...everybody's scoring; trust me it's boring...

2 David Ruffin: My World Ended (the moment you left me)
...last week my life had meaning...

3 Pretenders: Talk of the Town
It's such a drag to want something, sometime...

4 Robbie Williams: Win Some Lose Some
...will we still need young love on our shoulders?

5 The Monkees: Mary Mary
...I'd rather die than live without ya..

6 Cliff Bennett: Got To Get You Into My Life
...you know I just wanted to hold you...

7 The Monkees: She
...and like a fool I believed her from the start...

8 George Harrison: The Lord Loves The One (That Loves The Lord)
...if you don't give, then you don't get nothing..

9 George Harrison: His Name is Legs (Ladies and Gentlemen)
I only came here to mend the central heating, but I stayed on a few years...

10 Four Tops: The Same Old Song
It's the same old song, but with a different meaning since you've been gone.

Oddly no AOR rock popped up in the ten. There's no Prog since I'd edited the playlist so that less adventurous friends wouldn't have their tender sensibilities offended.

Robbie Williams is over represented with 2 selections playing from a total of 15 in the selection of 852. The Monkees also, but at least there's 40 of their tracks (although I'm not sure that's a wise thing to admit). At least with George, there is a choice of 6 or 7 albums for the jukebox to loot.

And to think I accused [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] of showing his age...

Ta for this one - was quite funny for me. I appear to be a mournful bint with an '80's fixation Ho Hum! (http://www.livejournal.com/users/eldelphia/170021.html)

It's the randomness that's the key to it. Quite different from a My Top 10 type of list.

I didn't know either of the George Harrison numbers but couldn't resist looking up the lyrics of the second one. Very good. Is it meant to be about Larry Smith (Drums)?

That had never actually occurred to me...

It's about 'Legs' Larry Smith of the Bonzo Dog Band as far as I know (he even appears on the recording, and the fragment I used is from his voice over rather than the lyric proper). But knowing George's sense of humour, I wouldn't rule out the reference.
