Longest Day

caddymanWell there you go: today is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. After today it starts getting darker again as the long slide to winter starts. Someone has to point that out every year and be a kill joy. May as well be me; ho ho!
So, since a bunch of you out there on my friends list are of the pagan and neo-pagan variety, to whom should I be sacrificing my goat on this auspicious occasion?1
The old froat feels a bit ropey this morning. In particular my tonsils which feel about twice their normal size but are not exactly sore. I have a feeling, partially confirmed by![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
ellefurtle that I was snoring like a good ‘un last night for long periods. That means I must have been zonked out on my back with my trap wide open; not something I usually do, preferring to sleep on my side. It must have dried my throat out to the point that it feels like it’s been transplanted from a pharaoh. As I type, I half expect to cough up clouds of Saharan sand; certainly it feels as though there’s something directly behind the tonsil that won’t shift, but I think that’s really just an after effect of the dryness. Two cups of coffee, an ice lolly and several gulps of water are beginning to make inroads on it though and my masterful baritone will soon be back. At the moment it feels as though I am being fed an oxygen/helium mix when I speak. I just hope it doesn’t sound like that!
1I am asking this as respectfully as someone who sounds a bit like Pinky and Perky can; I don't want to blunder and offer up my sarnies to the wrong bit of the pantheon.
