I am baking hot. I have just asked everyone else in my immediate area whether the office is warm or whether it’s just me. It’s just me. I feel absolutely fine other than the fact that I feel as though you could fry an egg on me. I’m not running a temperature or anything as my forehead and arms feel cool to the touch, it’s one of those feel hot but radiate no additional heat moments.

Still, if the office is cool and I’m warm I shouldn’t complain too much, I suppose.

I am still somewhat at war with this bloody chair: I really am not a great fan of the design and it seems to be encouraging me to sit angled forward instead of back, so it can’t be good for my back in the long run.

Plus I have to train myself to sit differently anyway. When I have been at my desk for any length of time and stand up, my legs feel stiff and I can only hobble along for the first couple of minutes or so. That at least is my fault, not the chair’s. I have developed a habit over the years of sitting with my legs, which are hardly supple and slender anyway, hooked around the feet of the chair. I would have got away with it a few years ago, but the old pins are a little less forgiving nowadays.

Hmm. I don’t feel so hot now. Maybe I just needed a mild grumble about something inconsequential to cool down.

Nothing is happening today; to report otherwise would stretch even my abilities to exaggerate. Best get on and do some work, I suppose. Yep, it’s that dull.

I have just discovered that Photograph a compilation of the 20 best solo Ringo tracks (10 top tenners!) was released at the end of August. How did I miss that, and do I trust Play.com to deliver me a copy when I am still waiting for The Beatles Live at the BBC which seems to have disappeared into the aether?

Something to ponder.

I thought it was only women who did that... Now try to imagine that happening suddenly in the most embarrassing place you can think of and you might just have some idea of why we women do NOT like the menopausal power surges

There you are... you can say that you are "in touch with your feminine side"

My feminine side appears to be burning its way out of my system!

Maybe request a footstool? It would keep you from pitching forward probably. I have the kind that is very low and adjustable--it's just a flat thing on top of a thing that's flat on the bottom and round on the top, and the flat part sort of slides over the curve, if you can picture that. I've got it so that the front edge is actually touching the ground so it just sort of lifts my legs a bit (good for the lower back) and makes it easier to sit up straight and lean back a bit.

I too get the wobbly yet stiff legs, after I've been sitting here for sixty or ninety mins without getting up. It helps if I listen to music on my headphones (I don't know if you have that option). That way, my feet are tapping to the beat and encourage at least a tiny bit of circulation.

Are there 20 good Ringo tracks?

Of course there are, you silly twisted boy. They may not all be massive classics, but there are easily 20 good ones. I've got several Ringo albums!

I'm not sure I'd go as far as 20, but there are certainly a few - A Little Help from my Friends is obvious, but I quite like Act Naturally as well.

Well, you've handily named two songs that are not Ringo solo tracks, but...

I am not up to date with Ringo's recorded output, but four of his first five albums are excellent (Sentimental Journey is for completists only). The thing is, he's so well regarded that the best musicians and songwriters of the day help him out. He's also more than happy to issue an album of songs written by other people: he's never claimed to be much of a songwriter.

For a damned good rock'n'roll/country listen, I'd recommend a blast of anything recorded live by the All-Starr Band, with its ever-flexible line up.

I missed the vital little word, obviously. In which case, I can only echo the astonishment of our esteemed exiled friend.
