Quiet day

January 1st has turned out to be a very lazy day, though I did stir myself just long enough to change the wallpaper on my computer. Beyond that, I managed to doze until about 11.30 this morning (I didn't go to bed too early, but didn't go out for New year's Eve either) and watch an episode of the X-Files. So far, I think, that has been it.

Furtle is currently writing the autobiography of her holiday in Egypt and will, I suspect, release it to the awaiting world in edited instalments possibly with accompanying photographs. Trophies of her holiday include a basalt carving of Bast in cat form and a scarab encased in plastic. It may or may not be a real beetle, but the not-quite-fluorescent green plastic is tangible enough. She also brought back an unnervingly shaped model of Cleopatra's Needle (or similar pointy obelisk) and a small piece of embroidered rug with the Eye of Horus on it.

We are hoping to find a suitable piece of wall to display it from. According to Wikepedia it is also known as the Eye of Ra or the Wadjat. Marvel as I refrain from making horrible puns.

Such treasures.
