The Cabinet of Doctor Calamari
Tuesday, February 25th, 2003 12:10 pmA moment's time out to post on LJ.
I have always wondered precisely what it is about the humble cephalopod that excites such worthies as
pax_draconis and have viewed this excitement and interest with a dispassionate and detatched amusement.
But not now. I fear that he may be right and I may be wrong.
The reason?
In today's Metro (link unavailable, sadly), there is an article about Frida, a five-month old Octopus who has become the second cephalopod to learn how to open jam jars by watching aquarium staff. The first 'clever' cephalopod is Solomon who resides in an aquarium in Newquay, Cornwall.
Apparently he can open jam jars and play football.
If the humble octopus can do this, what of the mighty squid?
It has begun. Oh dear.
