caddyman: (master)
Ah, 10 days away from the Mean City TM and I return refreshed and ready for the fray.

And then I log on and find just short of 500 emails awaiting my attention. About 40 were of interest, the remainder promised me such items as a bigger willy, and a good time with various types of entity (though, oddly, no squirrels).

So I am less refreshed that I should be. But not much.

Of course, travelling up to Sunny Shropshire and thence Deepest Darkest Wales on Maunday Thursday when RMT were on strike (a train strike on a public holiday? When did we become French?) and the trains only went as far as Wolverhampton was interesting in its own right. And yet it still doesn't rate in my top 10 worst journeys of all time. One day I shall commit that list to paper (or cyberpaper at least), but not tonight.

Of course, my fortitude was greatly taxed during the period in question. Much of the time was spent in a caravan (trailer to my US readers) on the Welsh coast in the company of my Silver Haired Ma tm, and my sister's three kids: a dour and sulky 15 year old niece, a bored, surly and sulky 12 year-old nephew and the hyperative baby of the Clan, 5 year-old Sarah-Lou (ah, bless).

It seemed such a good idea during the planning stage. Now, several layers of grey whiskerage later, I have my doubts.

Of course, it didn't help that I rather stupidly mentioned to the kids that the laptop I'd borrowed to run edits on a couple of NWO characters I'm responsible for also containmed a functional DVD Player. Uncle Bry was suddenly last in the queue to use the damned thing, Iand I swear that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is now burnt into the screen through over playing.

I'm sure it's a great movie, but if I never see it again it will be too soon.

Antway, it all boils down to this - I am rather glad to be back in London. Tomorrow I can go to work, sit at my desk, look at 10 days' worth of emails and acumulated papers, drink coffee and REST!

Holidays. Pah. Who needs them?

And of course, by the end of the week, all you naughty NWO players will be emailing questions on the character sheets we've laboured long and hard to get out on time.

Shame on you all in advance!
