Well, here we are.

The arse-end of the hottest summer for years (and on occasion, the hottest since records started).

The annual picnic.

The rain.

The first rain in London since Adam was a lad and it's today. So, picnic transferred to conference room downstairs. Not so much fun by a long chalk matey, Oh No. Not by a long chalk. Food and drink, yes, lounging on the grass and dozing in the shade? Nope. Sitting or standing in an office environment? Yes. The occasional throw of a frizbee? No.

I have to sneak out to have a smoke instead of merely remaining considerately downwind of the group. And because it ain't near so much fun as a proper picnic, I'm back at my desk typing this.

Right. I'm going back down, now. But the merriment was stillborn.

And to cap it all off, there's something transferred to my shirt from a bag I was carrying, so the left side has a regular pattern of faint but nonetheless blue dots on it which makes people stare and me annoyed.

Chiz, chiz, moan, drone.

Bah.

Primarily electrickery.

Just had a 30 minute power cut which I believe, took out most of South London. Happily for me, other than having to root around for candles (it's amazingly dark for the time of day - leaden rain clouds will do that) and more recently having to wait while the PC scan-disked and all that, nothing more than petty annoyance.

It seems, however, that the power outage mangled the Tube and train system.

Glad am I that I left work early. A load of poor buggers will have been caught crowded in the Tube system during the rush hour in pitch blackness for half an hour.

Civilisation, eh?

The thickness of a fuse.
