Wednesday yawning

Today is a dreary excuse for a Wednesday.

There's not much going on at work, but I know there shall be in a couple of weeks or so. Unfortunately, because a lot of that work is both cyclical and dependent upon the outcome of a couple of consultation exercises we have out at the moment, there is on way we can anticipate it or bring it forward in any worthwhile or meaningful sense. All we can do is clear the desks of the dribs and drabs that are coming our way so that we can concentrate on the major nastiness when it all happens.

The second half of October and the beginning of November are going to be quite frightful, I think, and it's like waiting for a bloody great clerical Tsunami to break.

I can't make up my mind whether to stay in tonight or nip doen the pub to watch the footie. I was out last night for the second fixture of the quiz season.

We lost again, but compensated by downing industrial quantities of Real Ale, so it wasn't a total bust. (Shome mishtake shorely?.... Ed).

I may, instead, sneak out of the office a little early and nip up to the new Forbidden Planet megastore in Shaftesbury Avenue. A friend of mine discovered quite by accident that they have decanted from their New Oxford Street premises and moved in to a spacious new place nearer Covent Garden.

Of course, the two courses of action are not mutually exclusive, but I don't want to spend all my salary the day after pay-day.

Decisions, decisions.

In other news, I remembered last night that the 21st Century Schizoid Band are playing the Mean Fiddler on 31 October. Still no details of the likely support band or artiste - provided they/he/she/it are better than the woefully drunken Kevin Ayers who almost provided support at the gig at the Queen Elizabeth Hall last year, it shouldn't be too bad.

The band are apparently debuting some new material in addition to some of the old favourites, so it should be good.

Must see about tickets.

Has anyone out there in LJ-land been to the Mean Fiddler since it relocated to Charing Cross Road from Harlesden? I'm primarily interested in the acoustics and such as the Schizoids can be VERY loud as [livejournal.com profile] caffeine_fairy and [livejournal.com profile] chomper99 can attest from the gig at the Fairfield Halls last year.
