The snow's melting and so am I....
Friday, January 30th, 2004 04:20 pmIt is surprisingly hot in the office this afternoon, and therefore soporific.
Time acts differently on Friday afternoons here. The period between 2 pm and 5 pm is the longest three hours of the working week, and that allows for several other periods in which the minutes seem to have more than their statutory 60 seconds and the hours more than 60 minutes.
At least I am not in the same position as my boss. Just before 2 she was called into a meeting. It is not expected to finish before 5. This must be karma in action, because although we don't always agree on things (especially my performance at work), she is a generally good type, if distressingly young. Short of having ordered mass genocide or something, I cannot imagine what she could have done in a previous life to make the karma pixies gang up on her so and drag her off to a three hour meeting on a Friday afternoon.
I did tell her to give me the extension number for the meeting room and offered to phone her with an 'emergency' after about 90 minutes but she declined.
Clearly she's a game bird (though not, I hasten to add, in the partridge sense) who appreciates the need to placate the karma pixies. Maybe she avoided them before and is worried how things will mount up if not worked off.
That's planning, that is. And probably why she is a gaffer at her age and I'm not at mine.
Of course the fact that I update LJ in office time and she doesn't is probably in that equation somewhere.
