caddyman: (baffled)
We made but small progress today.

Base camp has moved on another eighteen inches and we can now clearly see the wardrobe through the dense foliage of discarded paper bags and old socks. We sent two bearers back last night for supplies and pressed on, leaving a clearly marked trail for them to follow on their return.

This elementary precaution chanced to be the finest happenstance, for an inadvertant discharge of the webley caused the Tottering Stack of CDs for which we were heading to quiver and fall with an almighty alarum which stampeded the dustbunnies and panicked all but Bantoo Charlie, our oldest and most faithful bearer. I fear that should we not find the rest before nightfall, their plight may be such that no Christian gentleman would wish to think on, for there are things out there by the window and lurking 'neath the occasional table that make the blood run cold as they howl at the moon.

Carruthers and I are determined that come first light, bearers or no, we shall strike out toward reclining chair, circumventing the occasional table and taking the route that leads uphill toward the chest of drawers. With luck, our food shouldl hold out until supplies arrive, but if not, we have plentiful ammunition and can provide for ourselves should we chance upon a herd.

Time now to rest, and to examine the curious wooden plate Carruthers unearthed from the debris that was the Tottering Stack of CDs. It bears the legend, Arne Saknussemm and an arrow pointing the way. But to which direction?

None can now tell.
