(no subject)
Saturday, August 28th, 2004 06:30 pmWell today hasn't turned out quite as intended due in part to laziness and in part to an unexpected phone call.
Having nipped out comparatively early to go down to the sorting office to pick up my package, I had an early lunch and came home with a view to doing some painting. Seeing as I had all afternoon ahead of me, I actually surfed the web for a while and then slumped to listen to the radio for a while.
It was as I was at last getting ready to do some painting that
immerwahr phoned out of the blue. A pleasant and unexpected surprise led to a very long chat about NWO which will have done his phone bill as much harm as it benefited our spirits regarding the coming fray. And when I say that I think we managed to buoy our respective spirits quite magnificently, I can only hope the phone bill is not too horrendous.
The upshot however, is that the light is now too far gone to make painting a worthy endeavour for today. Tomorrow, then. Definitely.
I think that tonight I shall have to break out the pad and pencils and try a sketch or two, since I now have two people on the list for potential pictures next weekend (time permitting, always. The game comes first), so I need a bit of practice. The last portrait I did from life was Christmas 1991, which is much further in the past than even my last artistic escapade. Anyway, I need to remind myself what the feel and power of a pencil feels like, and brush up on a few techniques which should be hardwired but rusty.
What I need now is a subject. That's the bit that always takes the time unless I have a willing sitter, I spend forever deciding what to draw and then find I have no time to do the actual artwork. I really can't be bothered with still life projects, see. I like to draw and paint people.
I'm a bit of a dum dum like that.
