More of a non-event
Tuesday, March 8th, 2005 11:50 amThis morning we have a Housing Directorate "event" at the Victoria Thistle Hotel, adjacent to Victoria Station. These events are invariably as dull as ditch water, and having got there just too late to have the free coffee, and find an anonymous seat near the back, I was forced to sit, half asleep and bored on the front row directly in front of the various worthies talking at us.
It is not easy to stay awake in these circumstances, but somehow I managed. I'm still not sure how.
Anyway, they're still all over there. A quick read through the names appended to the four discussion workshops revealed that I was not expected in any of them, so I snuck out and am back in the office with a nice cup of coffee and some real work to do, which will pass the time far more productively than getting bored out of my gourd at the 'event'.
Guess what? Miladdo has written to the Minister again. Same subject and all. Unfortunately, he has included a letter from a constituent this time, so once again, I am unable to send a dismissive response. I have to admire the way he finds different methods of eliciting a letter from the Minister each time, when in the normal course of events he would have been given the cold shoulder months ago. Still, because he will be forwarding the reply to his constituent, we can use varieties of standard lines again; hurrah!
I like the office when it's empty. No distractions, no interruptions. Great. Makessurfing the web getting work done a far simpler undertaking.
