Sumer is icumen in,
Lhude sing cuccu!
Groweth sed, and bloweth med,
And springth the wude nu—
Sing cuccu!

Awe bleteth after lomb,
Lhouth after calve cu;
Bulluc sterteth, bucke verteth,
Murie sing cuccu!

Cuccu, cuccu, well singes thu, cuccu:
Ne swike thu naver nu;
Sing cuccu, nu, sing cuccu,
Sing cuccu, sing cuccu, nu!

Ah, they don't write 'em like that anymore. Not if they want to pass their GCSEs they don't anyway.

It is very mild all of a sudden, and I'm not sure I like it.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that the temperatures are a fair amount higher than a fortnight back that's the problem; it's the all of a sudden bit. I like the temperature to switch gradually, so that I can acclimatise, rather than wandering in to work with my jacket and trench coat on, only to find that by the time I've got as far as Archway on the tube, I am slowly rendering down in the heat.

And let's face it; it just isn't that warm, it just feels like it in comparison with what we've had before.

Still, as Spring springs, the birdies cheep, and plants begin to bloom, I am cheerfully reminded that for the first time in sixteen years, I am nowhere near that bloody cherry tree in Gauden Road, SW4. The tree that single-handedly gave me hay fever. The one thing on the entire planet that I know I'm allergic to. Oh, no. Not this year, matey. I am distanced from that little bastard by a good eight miles, now.

Office services need to turn the heat down in here.

Or maybe I'm coming down with something….
