Fun with Parcel Farce

I know they’re only trying to be helpful, but…

Parcel Farce are trying to deliver an item I bought on ebay. They tried on Monday. Oddly enough, at 11.30am there was no-one in. They put a card through the door giving the tracking number and contact point etc, but it stated that I need not do anything as it would be automatically redelivered the next day.

I could have told them not to waste their time, but as I didn’t get in until after 8pm, and their contact line closes at 8pm…

So I took the next option available to me and went to their website to rearrange delivery there. Of course, there’s no electronic notification that anything has happened, so I don’t know if they will attempt to deliver it today, while DT has the day off. The online tracking details say it’s still at the depot, but that may not be up to date.

Phoning from work to check on progress, or confirm a further alternative delivery date seems problematic, too. I spent 20 minutes in a queue waiting for someone to answer this morning, before I had to something else. So I didn’t get to speak to anyone, and I’m none the wiser concerning progress.

I just know that it will all end up with me trekking all the way out to Acton, which is Parcel Force’s “local” depot (i.e. it’s only miles away on public transport and only extremely difficult to get to…). I’m away this weekend, so I suspect that I am going to have to waste a day’s leave to get out there.

I’ll check with DT shortly to see if it has actually been delivered. If not, I’ll try the phone once more. There’s a perfectly serviceable post office directly across the High Road from the flat where they could deliver and I could pick it up on my way home. It’s a service they allege having.

If I can get hold of a human being to arrange it with.
