caddyman: (dominate)
Well, about a half hour ago, I sent [livejournal.com profile] maleghast off on his merry way fed and watered, and I have the place to myself for the remainder of Sunday until DT gets back from airsofting.

I am taking half an hour to type this up and drink a can of coke before I begin cleaning the detritus of a day and an evening's hosting of a large proprtion of the NWO writing/editing team for booze, chat and plotting. From around 7.30 on Friday evening, we hosted [livejournal.com profile] lupercal and [livejournal.com profile] immerwahr, with [livejournal.com profile] pax_draconis and [livejournal.com profile] manamar arriving around 8.45. Gad, but we drank some stuff that evening/night. I have a fair collection of empty beer, wine and port bottles to show for it. I remain impressed, if unprepared for [livejournal.com profile] manamar's ability to squeeze innuendo from pretty much any phrase, no matter how innocent or pure. I swear that one reading from him would have the moral majority demanding the burning of the book of common prayer. The Bible wouldn't stand a chance in his hands.

Saturday afternoon saw the arrival of [livejournal.com profile] jfs and [livejournal.com profile] maleghast, and the plotting/character sorting started in earnest. Though more booze and coffee was consumed.

All in all, a very productive and enjoyable process - we always start these things convinced that we have nowhere to go, and nothing to write, but once the ideas start flowing, they build and feed upon each other until the foetus of the monster that is an NWO event is conceived. It is not a process for the weak of heart.

This is the first time in 20 or so years of living in London that I have lived in a place large enough to accommodate anyone over night, much less four people, and it was fun. Normally it's me who has to do the travelling. It made a change to do the hosting, and I think it went well.

Now though, I have a great deal of washing up to do, and I must hit the living room at least with the hoover. I am living in a crumb and crockery paradise, and there are signs of merlot blobbage here and there, too.

Hohum.

No rest for the wicked.
